Square Miles’ Brazil Passeio Minas Gerais Pulped Natural Yellow Bourbon

I had a chance to taste this delicious Brazil Yellow Bourbon from Square Miles. Johnson of Coco Espresso brewed the coffee twice with different settings i.e. coarser or finer grinds.

Coarser Version: The cup slightly increases on acidity, but please do not take away the honey-like sweetness it still carries. The layer of flavors came up pretty clearly from start to finish and it was definitely a decent cup.

Finer Version: The cup tasted closer to the description of the bag, peanut brittle/walnuts and ripe plums. Flavor and sweetness intensity increased beautifully. The described “ripe plums” became like peach and mix of maple syrup, amazingly sweet. Body also increased in parallel fashion and it was still a very smooth cup of coffee.

Regardless of the two versions, the Brazil Yellow Bourbon is highly recommended! Let it be “pulped natural” or “honey process”, whatever you want to name it. This coffee is one of those “converter” coffee, where people open their minds tasting and drinking delicious, sweet and chocoaty-like coffee.

Coco Espresso is located at 197 Queen’s Road, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

Loved Yellow Bourbon.

Guatemala Finca Injerto Peaberry

This is my second time tasting this lovely coffee. Of cause, love the Jar much as well.

I prepared it with my hario hand-drip V60, 86-7C of hot water, 28g for 400mL coffee liquid.

Undoubtedly, it was deliciously filled with chocolate flavors. Whether it was from the beans itself or the roasting process, cocoa-y notes are always welcomed.

I brewed for about 2.5 - 3 minutes, slightly longer than my usual 2.5 minute. This results an almost over-extracted version one may believe, but I rather like the slightly higher body it embedded!

This coffee is a must try for any body, whether you are a enthusiast drinker or trained professional. This delicious coffee always reminds me the lovely wide range of coffee flavors, so delicious with its chocolates and butterscotch flavors!

Try it before it runs out!

Ethiopia Konga Peaberry Natural @ HasBean

I ordered this coffee without carefully reading the description. When I opened the bag, I found that roast seems uneven. I emailed HasBean and confirmed that’s the way it is.

I followed HasBean’s recommendation and prepared hand-drip. I tried and tried again this coffee and only found that it is absolutely delicious.

The Ethiopia Konga Peaberry is stunningly aromatic. The moment you opened the bag, it smells of berries and fruits running into you. Make a simple pour-over of it, you definitely can taste the berries and blackcurrant notes as described. With its natural fruity sweetness, this Konga Peaberry is a mind-blowing coffee.

I was clouded with the uneven roast the coffee visually presented. I naively thought it sucked, but it wasn’t. Delicious as another coffee like Geisha, this Ethiopia Konga Peaberry  took my tasting palate and experience to the next stage. Thank you HasBean for having this coffee delivered.

Coffee Break, HK.

A quick visit to cafes in Kownloon Bay area today turned out a great event. My friend and I discovered Coffee Break at G/F, Billion Center, 1 Wang Kwong Rod, Kowloon Bay. Right at entrance you can tell by its home-y and warm welcoming setting. Owner Brian and Kennis quickly introduced us their single origins coffee upon request. Not only they carefully described the El Salvador and Guatemala, but also prepared them in order due to their flavor changing behavior.

Guatemala was prepared through the Hario V-60 hand drip method. Its peanut-like and caramel sweetness were well extracted and displayed in the cup.

El Salvador was brewed through the Syphon, which Brian intended to let us try after the Guatemala. The El Salvador behaved like Brian described, great sugar-cane sweetness were definitely layered from hot to warm to room temperature. Rather than peanut-like flavors, sweet walnuts were the dominant flavors I found. The cup was definitely enjoyable till the last drop.

At coffee break, I also learned a fascinating story of a Taiwanese coffee grower and roaster. A story to be shared at coffee break only.

Take a Coffee Break when nearby Kowloon Bay!

Espresso Alchemy

I had another chance to visit Espresso Alchemy @ 4-5 Hoi Wan Street, Quarry Bay.

I was served with another great Single Origin Espresso, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Kaffa region. The espresso was very delicious that I’d go back for another one right away. Not only it was super floral, but the orange-like sweetness is well balanced with grapefruit acidity. A wonderful smooth body is definitely a plus.

Single Origin Yirgacheffe Espresso @ Alchemy is definitely worthy of a visit.

Guatemala Finca El Injerto - Peaberry
This coffee is chocolate and peanut butter sauce in disguise. No only the syrupy body amazes you, but smooth chocolatey flavor also entices you until the last drop. The hint of clove-like spice adds another dimension to your brew. Let this brew sits for an hour, you come back and find the maple syrup sweetness.

Colour

What if people start realizing great coffees have this deep reddish colour as a hand drip!?

Coffee is no longer a pure black and bitter liquid.

Let the sweetness and fruitiness speak to you!
